Big news

For almost as long as we have been married, Rob has dreamed of running his own CrossFit gym, and we have dreamed of me being able to stay home with our children. As a friend recently reminded me: God knows the deepest desires of your heart. I believe this to be true, and God has opened up a door for both Rob and I to do what we desire. I never would have thought that the door would not be right here in Sugar Land.

The door is in Laredo, TX...

Yes, friends, this means we will be moving. Rob has an incredible opportunity to run G7 CrossFit alongside his family in Laredo. While I am heartbroken at the thought of moving away from family and friends, I am overjoyed at the thought of staying home with my little man!

We will be moving at the end of February. The move will probably be a slow process, which is good because I was already feeling overwhelmed and stressed about packing and getting our house ready to sell/rent. Which brings me to the house...we aren't sure if we should rent or sell yet, so please pray with us over that decision. I know that God has a plan and will provide in that area too.

Since I will be a SAHM (that's Stay At Home Mom- lingo :) ), I plan to come visit regularly. After all, half of my friends are pregnant, so I will have many baby showers to attend, I am sure! I also have big plans for my Etsy shop (stay tuned!), and I want to get better at my photography. I already checked, and I believe Laredo does have a midwife (just in case!). We will be finding a church to attend, there is one that Rob has one in mind, hopefully we will be able to find some friends there.

I will miss everyone so much, especially Casey. But I know that this is where God wants our family to be right now, and we will be blessed for following his Will. Please pray for me during this transition.

Who knows? I may even learn a little Spanish!

Anyone wanna buy our house?

So after many months of deliberating, we have decided to sell our house. This decision is bittersweet for me, I love my home! But I really think this is what God has for us right now. We hope to be starting a family soon, and when God gives us some kiddos, I will be cutting back my hours at work. It has always been very important to us that I stay home when we start a family, so we want to have a smaller house note so we can make that happen. Please pray that our house sells, and that God will provide a house to fit our needs and our budget.

Making Disciples

While away this weekend, Rob and I went to church with his brother Mike. We went to Austin Stone Community Church. The message was really good for Rob and I. The pastor was talking about going out and making disciples. He showed this really awesome video about a couple from the church purposely living in a rough part of town, so to bring others to Christ. They are preparing to go to the Sudan to spread God's word. I wish the website had the video, but it doesn't.

It was a really amazing video, and it re-iterated what Rob and I have been praying about, our living situation. Rob and I have been discussing and praying about where God wants us to live for the past 2 months or so. Should we remain in our house, and get to know our neighbors more? Should we do Apartment Life and reach out to people in an apartment complex who don't know Him? Should we move to another neighborhood in Sugar Land that isn't as nice as ours to spread God's word? The truth is, is that we don't know! But different things keep pointing us to moving, it is funny how God works that way. He has been giving us subtle hints every now and then. We are still unsure of exactly what God wants us to do, but we know He wants us to do something.

I have really been praying that God would change my heart if he wanted us to move. I have come to find out through all this, that I am a very prideful, selfish, worldly person. I like my house, plain and simple. I like the neighborhood. I like my stuff. But it really isn't mine, is it? Everything I have was given to me by God. I constantly need to remind myself of that. In Luke, Jesus says it is foolish to store up things for yourself but not be rich toward God. I know that I am often very foolish when it comes to my possessions! Lord, forgive me for being selfish, lazy and foolish toward you.

Please pray for us in the next couple of months as we wait to see where God takes us!

Changes for the Garzas!!

For the last month and a half, or so, Roberto and I have really been looking at how we are living our lives and how we are spending our money. Are we living how God has called us to live? What changes need to take place to truly live a God-centered life? We came to the conclusion that we haven't been spending or saving our money how we should, and, basically, that we are selfish people. Thankfully, we are children of a forgiving, gracious God!
One of the ways that Roberto and I have been trying to change is by getting to know our neighbors, which started with our block party, and then we had some people over for lunch after church one day, and both neighbors we invited came!! I was really surprised. Our next door neighbors are really sweet, and now we say 'Hi!' every time we see each other. This is really out of our comfort zone, but we are feeling called to get to know people around us, and to be in community with them.
In order for us to save money, we canceled our gym membership. We have been working out at home, Rob built a pull-up bar, which I generally just hang from, since I have no upper-body strength, but I am working on it!! Soon I will be able to do a pull-up! We have also been jumping rope a lot. Another thing we did, brace yourself, was cancel cable!! So, tomorrow between 2-5pm, we will no longer have cable. (sigh...) I'm not gonna lie, I will miss cable terribly!! But, I know I will get over it. (Goodbye to the DVR, HGTV, E!, and TLC!!)You'd be surprised (or maybe not) to see how much stuff you can accomplish while not being glued to the TV!! I've already made a list of what needs to be done in all my spare time! Speaking of which, I have really gotten into organizing, you should see my pantry, it is amazing!!
