Border Town Flea Market

Some friends and I have been having fun on Wednesdays visiting the local flea market! It is actually pretty fun. I've been able to find some good stuff! A lot of it is in boxes and brand new. It has become almost a weekly tradition!

Here are some of my favorite finds:

Swimming pool with slide...$8! I saw a price tag on it for $20...

Size 6 Puma shoes...$2! This is post-washing. They cleaned up really well!

This is my ultimate flea market find...after spotting one for $50 on my first trip there (which I turned down, I didn't want it that bad.) I was patient and spotted another one during my 2nd trip for...wait for it... $20! Uhhh, yes please, they sell for $80 in the store! Bobby has a thing for pirates, so I though it was perfect!

I brought Bobby today and let him walk around with us. I was nervous about this, because during our first trip, he was a nightmare! But this time I brought my new stroller, a sit 'n stand, and he actually did pretty well. I think he enjoyed the freedom. Boy was he dirty when we got home! When he and Tagan heard the music, they started dancing! It was so cute!

Yep...we're potty training...

It's that time folks!! I was really nervous about training a boy. But to my surprise, Bobby is catching on pretty well! He just turned 2 in October, so I wasn't sure if we should wait a little longer or not. Since he was 18 months old, I have been taking him to the potty off and on, I didn't make a big deal, I just wanted him to get used to the idea. Sometimes he would go potty, sometimes not. Well, for the last few weeks or so, we've been going more often, and he's been telling me when he is going. So I took the plunge and said 'Let's do this!'.

Bobby is doing so well! We've been going commando during the day, and pull ups during naps and at night. If he doesn't have anything on, he makes it to the potty 99% of the time. Even for #2!! (Well, we had 2 #2 accidents on the 2nd day, but after that, he's been doing really well!) I'm so proud of my big boy. Next step: training him to go even with underwear on! Speaking of...

...how cute is he??

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Today little B stayed home from MDO. He has been fighting a cough for a good month now, but it got a little worse and he had a small fever. Poor guy. He is acting normal though, so that is good. Lily took an extra long nap so we got to hang out, just me and B. I don't think he has ever actually eaten an orange before (no special reason, we just don't buy oranges that much), so I gave him a little lesson in orange eating.

Testing it out...

Getting a good bite...

He's actually saying 'mmm', although his face doesn't show it!

An orange eating lesson wouldn't be complete without the 'ole 'orange peel for a mouth' trick.

He loved them!

I'm not the only one being crafty this year...

Bobby is too!

We've been busy crafting for Bobby's grandparents. We made a Christmas trees and a birthday card for my mom's birthday. Then yesterday and today we made Christmas ornaments! I got the ornament idea and recipe from the Prudent Baby newsletter. It was super easy! Today when we were decorating them, Bobby thought the ornaments were cookies and tried to take a bite! They probably weren't very good, since they're made of flour and salt! Yuck!

I can't wait for Christmas, Bobby is going to have so much fun this year. We took him to look at Santa in the mall, and he was so excited! He kept saying 'Hi Santa! Hi!', trying to get his attention. So cute! We're traveling to Sugar Land to be with my family for Christmas. We leave in a week! Can't wait!

Cutting out the ornaments!

When it comes to glitter...more is better!

He loved the glue stick!

Being crafty for Granny and Grandma!

Family visit

Aunt Casey, Aunt Michelle, Uncle Jay Jay and Noah came to visit this weekend! Good thing to, because Rob and his parents are out of town, so I would've been all alone with 2 kids all weekend! Ahhh! Not ready for that quite yet. Having 2 kids it so much harder than I anticipated. Bobby is getting more adjusted everyday. We all cry on some days. I feel bad for neglecting him, but I hold Lily so much right now...but I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel! This is just temporary, we will all adjust and be just fine! (giving myself a pep talk!)

We only had 2 things on our 'must do' list this weekend: visit a pumpkin patch and take Lily's newborn pictures. Check!!

I wasn't sure if Laredo had any pumpkin patches, but thanks to my sister in law, Vero, we found one! It was really cute! Bobby had a blast running from pumpkin to pumpkin. Here are some of the cutest shots from our day!

Yee-Haw!

Newborn Photo Shoot:

So sweet!

Thanks Erin W. for the hat! It fits perfectly, and is so adorable!!

This one is one of my absolute favorites. She was so alert! You can really see how much hair she has!

Picnic time!

The weather has been beautiful here, lately! Not quite as cool as in Sugar Land, but it feels awesome outside! Bobby and I spent time outside today from after breakfast until after lunch! That's a long time for me! I didn't take pictures of his activity, but I filled up 2 large plastic bowls with water and gave him some spoons to "stir, stir, stir!", which is what Bobby would say while stirring and splashing in the water. So cute!

Since it was so nice out, I decided to have a picnic!! I love picnics, and Bobby did too! He was so excited about eating on the blanket! He did a good job too, no running around...just sitting and eating, what he does best!

I told him to go sit on the blanket and wait for me to bring him his food! I am loving this age. He understands so much, learns new words everyday, and we can actually have a mini conversation!

I'm trying to spend as much quality time with Bobby before little sister comes along (whenever that may be...).

I love this little guy!!

Mmmm...yummy strawberries!

Rain-Rain--Go-Away...

It has been raining non-stop here in Laredo, just a heavy drizzle, not really storming. Since there was no thunder or lightning, I decided Bobby would have fun playing in the rain!! I think he enjoyed himself, although he didn't know how to handle
his feet getting wet...but he got over it real quick! I of course snapped some pictures to share with everyone!

Thanks Granny for the rain jacket!!

It's tough being a mom...

Being a stay at home mom is hard! I am more tired most days after a full day with Bobby then I ever was while working. I've found lately that I am a very selfish person. A selfish mom. There is nothing like being a mom to bring that trait to the surface. I want to sleep, check Facebook, watch my shows, sew, or just be lazy and do nothing. But there is this little guy who depends on me for everything, and a little lady who is coming soon. I love him more than words can say, but sometimes I just want to have a mom-cation! Don't we all?

Bobby has been really whiny lately, and I thought maybe it was just God preparing me for how he'll be after Lily is born. Then I started realizing that he is most whiniest when I am not paying attention to him. When I'm on the computer, or cutting some fabric, or whatever may be keeping my attention elsewhere. Sure...some of this is his age and he will have to figure out how to play by himself (which we are working on with an occasional 'room time'), but I also needed a kick in the mommy pants!

So I've decided to try and do some fun activity with him everyday (or most days). There isn't a kids museum, zoo, or neighborhood pool here in Laredo, so I have to get creative. I got some ideas from some friends, and I have a book full of toddler activities that I need to actually put to good use.

It's been forever since we have played outside. He loves going outside. It's just so dang HOT here! Today was still hot, but the humidity wasn't as thick as usual, so it was bearable. I broke out the chalk, grabbed some ice water and the camera (everything is a photo shoot waiting to happen, ya know!) and out we went! Bobby had a great time! I did most of the drawing, but he helped. He also loved the leaves and waving to the neighbors. It was fun! I had fun spending quality time with my son! I'm excited to go on some nature walks and to take our dog, Oliver on some walks as well. I know I will have my moments, I am human after-all, but I hope I have turned a SAHM corner.

Now to figure out how to juggle TWO kids... :)

My silly boy.

Gettin' his chalk on!!

This kid was born to dance!!

Playdough!

While in Austin this weekend, Bobby and I got to hang out with Cynthia and family. I'm so grateful for friends that let me come and kill time at their house!! Thanks Cynthia!

While we were there, Bobby got to play with some homemade playdough. He had never played with it before and was quite intrigued. It seemed easy enough, so I looked up a recipe online and got to cookin'.

This was a free project!! We had all the ingredients on hand and each batch only took about 10 minutes to make, so I made 3 of them...blue, green and yellow.

Bobby had such a good time! He loved stabbing it and putting pieces into cups. We will be doing this daily, I'm sure.

Bobby &hearts s...

M-I-C....K-E-Y....M-OU-SE!!

Bobby loves his little friends with the big ears...he calls Mickey and Minnie: "Gu-iis" or something like that. I can't figure it out...I think he thinks he is saying 'Mouse'. It is so cute!

He sleeps with the smaller Mickey, and plays with the other two. Little does he know that Minnie actually belongs to Lily. :) He watches Mickey Mouse in the morning, and dances and waves goodbye when the ending song plays. So adorable! I had to help him carry all three down the stairs today...while holding his hand...and my water...and his ball...and some dirty diapers! It was touch-n-go, but we all made it down safely!

I'm planning a trip to Disney World with Casey, but not until 2012 or 2013...what can I say? We plan ahead!! I know Bobby will have such a great time!

I took these pictures of Bobby and friends today and they were so cute I had to share!

CHEESSSE!!

Being sweet next to his pals...I love that little guy!!

Twins??

This is my cutie-patootie brother, Brian. Does anyone see a resemblance to Bobby? I think they have the same shape head, same hair, and possibly the same smile...SO CUTE!!

New haircut!

People doubted my talents...(ahem)...Rob, Jason, and even my Father-in-law, Bobby. I decided not to listen to their warnings and tried my hand at cutting Bobby's hair again, and it turned out so cute!! Last time I cut his hair he slightly resembled Loyd from 'Dumb and Dumber'. So Rob told me I wasn't allowed to cut his hair again. Then he chipped his tooth and really resembled Loyd!!

Anyway, the cut didn't take much, I just buzzed it all off! His head gets so hot, I wanted him to be cooler for the summer. Bobby did so good, he sat on the chair like a big boy and let me buzz his hair off. I wish I had a good picture of my brother, Brian, when he was Bobby's age. They look a lot alike now.

Bobby has started saying "CHEESE" when I try to take his picture...but he doesn't necessarily look at the camera all the time... :)

Week of Fun in Sugar Land!

I got to travel to Sugar Land with Bobby to spend some time with family and friends this past week. We had such a good time! We stayed at my sister's house, and visited friends, families, favorite restaurants, and just relaxed with my sister and Noah.

Our week, in pictures...

Fun with Granny
Playing in the rain puddles at Granny's house! He loved it! This boy loves water, can't wait to teach him how to swim...

Playing with Granny, she is so much fun!

Fun at Aunt Casey's house

He loves his Aunt Michelle!!

Being sweet with cousin Noah. He is going to be such a good big brother!

Bobby took the worst spill of his life (so far...I am sure there will be many more). He slipped off a chair outside and hit face first, on the pavement. It looked so painful, and his lips started swelling immediately. Poor baby. But Bobby is tough, only crying for less than a minute...he is totally fine, his lips are almost all the way healed.

Strawberry pick'n
Probably the highlight of our week, we had a blast with friends at a strawberry patch in Alvin, TX. Bobby promptly found a spot, took a seat, and started to eat as many strawberries as possible! He would take a bite, and put it in the bucket...needless to say we took home more than a few strawberries with little nibbles on them.

It was so much fun and perfect weather to be outside.

This is what he did most of the time...

Traveling with the Bobster...

We have found out that we can't be in the same room with Bobby when traveling. It just doesn't work. I ended up sleeping on the couch at Casey's after our first night together. He sees us in the middle of the night, and cries until we come get him. Then, he thinks it's time to play. So when we went to a family wedding this weekend, THIS is what we came up with to try and prevent an early morning. It worked pretty well, he did get up a little early, but at least it was after 7! (sorry this is a bigger font...it won't change for some reason...ugh!)

It's good to be home, in our own rooms, in our own beds...can't wait for our next visit though...we'll be back for my 10 year high school reunion next month! Eek!
