Productive day!

I didn't have to work today (Woo hoo!), so I decided to get started on the baby bedding. I tackled the crib bumper first. I figured the easiest way to make a bumper was to buy a cheap one and make a 'slip cover' for it. So my mom and I found this one at a re-sale shop:

I made the cover reversible, dots on one side, navy on the other. All was going well, until the end. I don't know what happened! I had to have measured 3-4 times, and I allowed myself at least 4 extra inches to close the cover. Well, what do you know? When I put the almost finished cover on the bumper, it was about 1 inch too short!! ARGH!!! So I came up with a solution, but not a very pretty one: I added material to one side, and made a Velcro flap to fold over onto the other side. When it is in the crib, it will definitely be hidden from view, that is for sure!! Overall, I think it turned out pretty well, but it was a little more time consuming than I had imagined. The curtain and crib skirt should be a lot easier! (knock on wood!)

The not-so-pretty solution:

The finished product:

I bought these letters at Michael's, and the ribbon at Jo Ann's. There are some unique colors in the fabric, but I lucked out in finding ribbon to match the dots exactly!! I'm not sure where in the room these will go, but it will be a nice finishing touch!

Despite the setbacks, it looks great!! The colors look great, and I like the idea of hanging the letters from ribbin instead of just tacking them into the wall.
