I made some pillows!!

I recently was asked by a friend, Sonya, to help take some of her sewing projects off of her hands. I do know how to sew, but I pretty much have taught myself and I have never made anything for someone I don't know. But I decided to give it a try. It will be a great learning experience, and pretty soon, I hope to be as good a seamstress as my grandma!! (she is really good!!!)

Sonya started me off easy with some pillows. I have never made pillows before, but I've wanted to learn!! My friend, Erin helped me get started, we made the welting together (which to those of you who don't know, it is a fancy name for the trim on the pillow...I didn't know that either, see, I am already learning!) Thanks to her husband Reed who helped install the zipper foot and helped us walk through some troubleshooting on my machine. (By the way, Erin, I figured out how to do the back-stitch!! :) ) Tonight I finished sewing the pillows and stuffing them. The only thing I have to do now is sew them shut. Not bad for my first official project!!

Before (with a red cover):

After (with a Burlap cover, not sewn shut yet):

I'll keep y'all 'posted' with all my projects!!

Yay! Very cool! Yeah, those zipper foots are tricky. I thought I broke my machine when I tried to first attach mine. Actually, I thought I broke my machine several times... good thing they aren't fragile!

Looks great! Yea, you! Oh, and "you're welcome!" I'll only take a 2% cut, okay, since we're friends and all!

I love that you are sewing to make some extra green! You are really good at it and actually like to do it! And I'm sure there's a lot less cursing than when I sew. ;)
